What could Dale McKnight be up to?

Dale McKnight is one of the two owners of Chatter Creek Mountain Lodges. The reasons why he owns it is because he is one extremely hard working man, he loves the mountains, he loves people, he loves snow, he loves the woods, he loves skiing, he loves his home, he loves his family and many other things!

More on Dale and his awesome lodge later, now we are showing you some pictures of his new favorite toy. The purpose of this lovely beastly-looking piece of equipment is to make a proper ski run. You see, when Chatter Creek first started, quite a bit of logging had been done on the tenure, thus making natural ski runs all over the place. Also, before Chatter Creek started, no avalanche control had ever been done on some of those big alpine slopes. What that means is that mother nature used to clear all those alders and small trees on her own every few years. Basically, the bushes were taking control and making stop halfway on some of our longest, most pleasant runs. Until she arrived…

We give you : “THE SPIDER” a.k.a. Minzi

That was my last day of the season shooting at Chatter Creek and it was a blast even though I didn’t feel the best. The snow was deep and the fun-o-meter was hitting the top! Such good times again for that fifth season. A huge thanks to all of you who came to ski with us, the owners Dan and Dale, the managers, the outdoor staff, the indoor staff, the ladies at the office, See you next winter for another amazing season!

Super fun day : Dan Deckelbaum was out there taking photos of the group and his brother too while shredding pillows to small powdery bits! Jaffrey was putting on a show too! Jaffrey definitely gets a three year immunization against the “Pink Purse” for his insane improvements at powder skiing! Obviously that is subject to change in case of a big enough pursuable offense. For people who have never been at Chatter Creek, be shure to ask whoever will be doing the welcome speech during the first diner about the “Pink Purse” for clarifications!

I know, I know, it probably smell a lot more like summer wherever you are at the moment but we got a couple more pictures to showcase from the end of this great season. It was great alright, my last three week shift was just a long streak of stormy weather and deep powder conditions. See for yourself!

My only day of the season in the Fishbowls. It just snowed too much this season. I didn’t just write that did I?

My girlfriend was among us on this epic day on the Vertebrae Glacier dropping from about 2926 metres (9600 ft). All of us got to see the Sullivan Fault (the face with all the curved earth layer lines), Mount Columbia ( 3747 metres, more info), the Columbia Icefield, Mount Tsar( 3424 metres, more info). We got to ski five lines down the glacier including a Throttler’s Notch (see captions).

On a beautiful sunny day you can see what the often traveled Super Road looks like. You might get to ski a Super Spruce run which is quite epic and can lead right to the lodge.
